Read MoreNovember was the big month where I finally revealed the new-look Going Awesome Places to the world and while I wish I can say it was a piece of cake, there was a lot of work involved that made it an arduous task but also incredibly rewarding once I got it out into the world. Follow along in the journey because who knows, a site refresh might be something you’re thinking about as well!
The big thing I’ve been talking about for the whole year so far has been the site redesign. For months there wasn’t any traction but September and October was when things ramped up. More on that next month. This month we’ll focus a bit more on how to put together a proposal for a client and bring big value to prove your worth as travel blogger.
With the summer winding down and my focus on closing out a project I was working on in Calgary, it was good to see that the income and traffic for September was still somewhat consistent. This was very much a month of going through the motions. Duck down below to find out how I did!
Summertime is usually pretty slow because you typically will be travelling more which means less time to work on paid work. Well good thing for me, I didn’t have much of that going on with my full time work so I closed on a few deals and continued to grow display advertising revenue thanks to Monumetric. Find out how I did and a few tidbits of knowledge if you scroll down a little further.
My oh my it’s been almost 6 months since I’ve been able to finally chain myself to a desk and crank out new income and traffic reports. Travel Blog Breakthrough has totally been put on the back burner and I’m so sorry! Sadly, time has been pretty limited through most of 2016 and when push came to shove, I had to focus more on the opportunities that came through to Going Awesome Places. The most important thing is that I’m BACK! While I could cop out and just...
Hello Travel Blog Breakthrough readers! Hope you’re having a good summer so far and that there is lots of travel and blogging happening. While May was pretty quiet on the income front, I saw a nice bump in June thanks to invoices being paid. One thing you’ll learn while working with brands is that invoices rarely get paid as quickly as you’d like. So how did June go? Let’s find out!
As a travel blogger, Instagram is perhaps one of the best tools at our disposal to building your brand. While it sounds easy, it is a heck of a lot more work than how easy it seems popular Instagrammers seem to draw in likes and follows. Not to fret though because I’ve brought in Melissa of A Broken Backpack to spill all of her secrets to success and how she was able to get to 10,000 IG followers in a matter of 6 months. *madly typing away* – This is me trying my best to catch up. What I’ve learned from blogging is that no matter how much you seem to get done, there’s always more to do. I love that there’s always lots of content to create but at the same time you kind of wish things weren’t a frenzy all the time. I’m way behind on Travel Blog Breakthrough but I know there’s a lot of interest for these income reports so here we go with May.
You let things slide a little and it’s May already! I know many of you look forward to these every month and I have to apologize for not being able to keep up but as bloggers you all know that it is hard to keep up with just one blog let alone two. Not to worry though, there’s still a lot I want to do for you guys with Travel Blog Breakthrough and if you keep reading you’ll see what I’ve been up to. Without further ado, let’s look at the first four months of...
Chatting with other travel bloggers is always a treat. Each one of us have carved our own path to success and what has got them where they are to day is so different. While that’s the case, that’s not to say that we can’t learn from each other and that’s why these podcasts are so powerful. In this one with Stephen Palmer of Irish Around Oz, he shares his wealth of knowledge of Facebook ads and e-mail marketing. This one’s jam packed with information so...
Just like that we’re in 2016. Everything resets and it’s a chance for reflection and looking forward to all the things you want to accomplish. Set the bar high. Shoot for the stars. With one more income and traffic report remaining, this closes the books on 2015. I’m curious just as you are how I did.
As you start exploring different ways to make money travel blogging, affiliate marketing is something you’ll naturally encounter alongside display advertising. However, the story I hear time and time again from other bloggers is that because it’s hard to be successful at it, they end up giving up. There are a ton of affiliate marketing guides out there but none that are really focused on how it works for travel bloggers. With this new travel blogger’s toolkit article, I...
Happy Holidays everyone! This is going to be the last income and traffic report of 2015 so let’s make this a good one. This one is also going to be jam packed with information as I’ll finally have an opportunity to do look back at the last 12 months and see how it’s tallied up and things that I’ve learned this year.
Hey guys! Can you believe that it’s been one year since I started these income and traffic reports? With this being the one year anniversary, I thought I’d try to change things up. I don’t know about you but these have been getting a little repetitive so why don’t we blow it all up! For those of you that are just joining Travel Blog Breakthrough, first of all, WELCOME! And secondly, let’s do an intro of what these reports are all about.
