Read MoreOne of the first things that happened to me as a travel blogger that gave me feedback that I was heading in the right direction was when I was invited to my first press trip. This was in large part thanks to a referral from another travel blogger (again…the power of networking!) and I was excited as heck. Thing was, I didn’t really know what to expect or how to prepare. I ended up having to learn and improvise on the fly but you don’t have to. My interview with...
There are a ton of podcast out there and when Jason asked to interview me for his own show, I was delighted. The tables are turned this time around and I thought I’d give you some insight on some very relevant information about travel blogging. : Play in new window | Download | EmbedSubscribe: Apple Podcasts | Android | RSS
September was a kick ass month for Going Awesome Places all things considered. I cracked $1000 for only the second time this year. It’s not time to pop the champagne yet because there’s still a lot more work to be done! This month, I’m going to try something a little different. Instead of all the detail I’ve done in the past, I’m going to keep things higher level to get you the information you care about up front. Let me know what you think!
The month of August was another good month. While I haven’t been able to crack the $1000 mark, I’ve been happy with the consistency considering I’ve been basically blogging on a part-time basis. I think a lot of this has just come down to setting the right things in place and letting it run. With it being the summer, I was more than happy with this.
First of all, I have to apologize for getting the July income report out SO late. It’s been a whirlwind summer of travel and between this and Going Awesome Places, it’s definitely been tough to keep up. The good news is that the podcasts are going again and I’m catching up on these reports as well. So winding the clock a little, I had a chance to dig into how July’s performance was. While it wasn’t as good as I had hoped it to be, money still trickled in...
On episode 14, I try something a little different and interview a travel startup entrepreneur in Jason Will of Zipkick. Very few people know about Zipkick but it’s hitting the scene hard with the product they’ve built so far, the ambassadorship program with travel bloggers they’ve put together and the mega road trip they’re on right now. Learn all about it on the show. : Play in new window | Download | EmbedSubscribe: Apple Podcasts | Android | RSS
For episode 13, I again tap into early travel bloggers to start a conversation around what the challenges are and what the journey is like. Debbie and John of Bridge The Travel Gap are awesome guests and from our banter, there’s a lot to learn. : Play in new window | Download | EmbedSubscribe: Apple Podcasts | Android | RSS
Episode 12 just couldn’t come fast enough right? Amidst all the travel this summer and everything else going on with blogging, it has probably felt like the podcast has been a little bit neglected. Back on the saddle, there’s fresh new content coming out over the next couple of weeks and we start off with this episode where I’m joined by Robert, a fan that found out I was offering one-on-one mentoring, scheduled a call and agreed to be recorded. It’s a candid look...
My oh my how the months go by. I was supposed to work on this weeks ago but something called Competitours happened at the beginning of July and the finishing up of my 13 episode series. It’s kind of how life is for a blogger in the summer. Most of the travel opportunities come in the summer and when that happens you end up having to play a lot of catch up after trips. May was just one of those lulls that you hit as a blogger when you hit the road and don’t get to build on...
I know a lot of you have been eagerly awaiting for the May income report to come out so thank you for being patient! After an amazing April, I wish I could’ve followed it up with another stellar finish but as it goes with blogging, there are always a lot of up and downs. Consistency is what we’re all trying to strive for but the nature of the business is that it’s constantly a lot of hustle to keep opportunities coming in. That’s why I keep on saying that...
Pinterest is on the rise and I know a lot of you have been feeling the heat because it’s something that’s just not easy to crack. The problem is that Pinterest takes a lot more time to nurture and grow than any other platform I’ve worked with so far. You know me though, I’m always a proponent of finding new systems, strategies and hacks to make my life easier. And if you’re like me, you don’t have the time to dedicate to pinning all day. You can exhale...
One of the key lessons I’ve preached over and over in my income reports is the fact that if you want to branch out in terms of your income streams you need to find ways to make yourself discoverable. The math is simple and is best said by Gretzky. You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take. In the past I’ve talked about places like IZEA and themidgame and sure they may not always pay dividends right away but rather than saying they’re a “waste of time”, I...
Welcome to the April 2015 income and traffic report for Going Awesome Places and Travel Blog Breakthrough. This month was all about breaking goals and I am happy to report that I actually cracked the $2000 profit threshold. *drop the mic* Okay I know it’s not a crazy amount but when you put in perspective of the whole journey, I honestly never thought I’d be able to pull that kind of money in…EVER. I’m sure you can relate. Tell any of your friends that...
It’s no secret that I’ve been testing display ad networks for months and ever since switching over to The Blogger Network, I’ve been been singing their praises. A lot of people have been asking me a lot of questions about the network and so I figure why not get one of the co-founders directly on the line and ask him why the rock. : Play in new window | Download | EmbedSubscribe: Apple Podcasts | Android | RSS
